NetSuite Ask Oracle Now Splits Prompts Into Jobs

In the August 2026 minor release for NetSuite 2026.2, Ask Oracle started splitting a prompt into jobs. Ask Oracle is NetSuite's ERP chat, meaning you type a question in the account and the system can now break that question into tasks that actually run: a close narrative, a list of overdue invoices, a bank match, a work order. If you already close the books or plan the floor in NetSuite, that is real help in software you already pay for.

NetSuite built something worth turning on. The question is not whether the chat can run a job. It is who may ask, meaning the named roles allowed to open Ask Oracle. It is also the stop rule, meaning the named line those jobs may not cross without you, before the chat matches cash, creates work orders, or reads the vendor file. Roles do not get Ask Oracle access by default. That is Oracle's setting. Write the names before the first prompt, not after System has posted a match.

Jobs from one prompt

Oracle's August 2026 minor notes is the product in Oracle's own words. Ask Oracle, introduced July 15, 2026, now takes one prompt and splits it into jobs that can run in parallel. Intelligent Close Manager, the close workspace inside NetSuite, can generate narrative insights from the close portlet. Exact bank matches can auto-submit with Submitted By set to System unless an administrator clears Automatically Accept Exact Matches. After a Supply Planning run, NetSuite can create work orders automatically, with separate preferences for MPS and MRP, master production schedule and material requirements planning. A core Ask Oracle skill can analyze Item Fulfillment timing across picking, packing, and shipping.

Treat those as the product, not as a promise that this month's close will be clean. Oracle also turned AI into one pool. Ask Oracle, Text Enhance, Prompt Studio, and SuiteApps that call generative AI all draw the same AI Units, the consumption measure NetSuite uses instead of tokens. The NetSuite AI Connector does not. A first AI hire, meaning the first named job you let software run without you standing over it, can live inside that pool. It can be the overdue-invoice list. It can be the close narrative you still review. It cannot be "anyone with a seat may ask."

Five days versus ten on the close

A licensed CPA or controller who is still the close already knows what a slow month feels like. Rand Group, on June 1, 2026, cites APQC, the American Productivity and Quality Center, on more than 10,000 organizations. Top performers finish monthly consolidated statements in 5 days or less. The median is 6 calendar days from trial balance. The bottom needs 10 or more. A 10-day close is half the month spent assembling, not deciding.

Those days are APQC's sample via Rand Group, not a Startup Miracle clock. Do not turn them into a dollar. Cash that System can post

A plant-office owner who still lives in overdue invoices and the bank rec feels the other side of the same release. NetSuite's own Ask Oracle example, on the July 15 product page, is "show me the top customers with overdue invoices." That prompt is useful. It is also how a chase goes out to a customer the shop would not bill that way, unless someone names who may run it.

APQC's DSO explainer puts days sales outstanding, the days it takes to collect after a sale, at a median of 38.0 days on measure 100178 across 12,170 companies. Top performers, the 25th percentile, collect in 30 days or less. Bottom performers, the 75th, take 46 days or longer. Those are APQC figures on a cross-industry sample, not an industrial-only cut, and not a float we invented.

The August minor now auto-submits exact bank matches by default unless an admin clears Automatically Accept Exact Matches. Submitted By shows as System. Exact match is useful. A System post of the wrong cash is the fear that already lives in that office. Name who may run the overdue-invoice prompt, and who reviews exact-match suggestions before System submits them, if you want DSO to move toward the 30-day band instead of letting the rec run itself.

Forty hours and the work order

A plant owner who is still the only person who knows which work order should actually hit the floor has a different file in the same ERP. The August minor can create work orders automatically after a Supply Planning run. That is useful when the plan is right. It is how a login dies while cost of goods stays in one head, if the crew cannot staff what the run just created.

Henry Resources, a named Rand Group NetSuite customer on that same June 1 article, unified 30 to 40 charts of accounts, consolidated three legacy systems, and saved 40 hours per month on data consolidation. Those hours are a named story, not an industry average, and not a dollar conversion. Keep a 40-hours-a-month class of lift by naming who may release auto-created MPS and MRP work orders, and who may run the fulfillment-performance skill, before Supply Planning writes the floor.

Who may spend the Units

Oracle's AI Units FAQ is the meter. Each NetSuite General Access Cloud Service User, item 6023, includes 1,000 AI Units per month of term, provisioned upfront into one pool. Oracle's example: 10 users on a 36-month term receive 360,000 Units. That 360,000 is pool math on the FAQ, not a shop invoice. Unused Units expire when the term expires. When the pool hits zero, the customer is expected to buy more, a 10,000-unit pack as item 7127 or a 25,000-unit pack as item 7143, or pause AI features.

The August minor removed separate usage pools, so every Ask Oracle job draws the same pool. The firm owner who already pays for NetSuite seats just watched AI become a meter. The fear is the included pool expiring unused, or one associate burning it so features pause mid-close. Name who may consume AI Units, and the stop rule, before Ask Oracle splits a prompt into parallel jobs, so the close still has Units when you need them. Do not invent a dollar per Unit. Treat the 1,000-Units-per-user-per-month pool as a named job.
